"You're sitting in front of something and you're working with it. You're so intense upon this thing, your mind changes. Time goes out of the picture and you are concentrating on something. This happens in painting."

Born in 1929, Frank Hursh spends most of his days painting in his studio in Queretaro, Mexico. In the winter of 2017, we had the opportunity to meet Frank while installing an exhibition featuring work by students of Black Mountain College.

Frank studied at the experimental liberal arts college between 1949-50. His time at BMC made a lasting impression, forever influencing his work and his philosophies on creative expression.
